New research, The UK’s Most Productive Companies by assessment firm Profiles International, has used publicly available information about companies’ revenue and number of employees to calculate a figure for economic productivity. As labour intensity varies widely by type of business, researchers took 590 of the largest UK businesses and grouped them into 18 sectors and 60 sub-sectors.
The study said that life insurance providers are among the most productive companies operating in the UK. St James’s Place and Legal and General appeared in the top 10 most productive companies in the country.
In the insurance sector, the top life insurers were:
- St James's Place
- Legal & General Group
- Standard Life plc
- Prudential
- Aviva
- Resolution
