Shanghai's insurance premiums up 34.52% in Jan-Oct

Nov. 15, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai, the largest city in China, saw its insurance premium income surge 34.52% year on year to RMB 73.61 billion in the first ten months of this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Shanghai Bureau of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

The city's life insurance companies realized RMB 57.07 billion in insurance premium income during the period from January to October, 36.9% more than in the same period of last year.

Property insurers in the city saw insurance premiums jump 26.92% year on year to RMB 16.54 billion during the period.

The bureau said that the city's insurance industry's premium income rose 35.67% year on year to RMB 67.88 billion in the first nine months of this year, accounting for 5.99% of the country's total.
